Super League wrap: TUT drop points, wins for JVW and UWC

The Hollywoodbets Super League title race looks set to go down to the wire after Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Ladies dropped two points with a 1-all draw at City Lads on Wednesday.

The result left TUT on 38 points after 17 games and second-placed JVW FC still find themselves in the title-chasing pack, three points behind but with two matches in hand following their 3-1 win over Ma-Indies at home.

Bloemfontein Celtic saw their 16-game unbeaten run come to an end after their 2-0 loss to the University of the Western Cape (UWC) on their turf.

Celtic has the best defence in the league, however, they came up against a side that is similar to them in that regard, hence the defeat.

Vasco Da Gama’s problems continue to mount as they lost yet another game even though they looked an improved side in their 1-0 defeat to Celtic last time as they looked tighter at the back. The Cape side succumbed to a 4-0 beating at the hands of the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

As a result, UJ has collected three wins and two losses in their last five matches.

After proving many people wrong last weekend, winning their first game of the season 1-0 against First Touch, Tsunami Queens went back to losing ways after their 3-0 defeat to Coal City Wizards away from home.

The Wizards came into this game having lost their last three games and made sure they put an end to their losing streak.

First Touch is now winless in its last five games, having suffered a 2-0 loss to Richmond United who lost 3-1 against JVW over the weekend. The defeat means that the Limpopo-based outfit only picked up just two points in those games.

Meanwhile, after missing a couple of games due to the COSAFA zonal qualifiers commitments, Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies return to the Super League action with an away encounter against Golden Ladies this afternoon (15:00) at Montshioa Stadium.
