Singh set for reunion with Chaves
Luther Singh is set for a reunion with Portuguese outfit GD Chaves on a season-long loan from FC Copenhagen.
The Bafana Bafana winger has had a challenging nine months following an illness which kept him in hospital for several months in Denmark.
Last year, Singh completed a dream move to Danish champions FC Copenhagen, but his journey with the giants started off on very shaky grounds, with injuries and illness turning his life upside down in the last couple of months.
Following his recovery, the 25-year-old joined Copenhagen’s pre-season camp on time as he looked to earn a place in coach Jess Thorup’s plans for the 2022/23 campaign.
Unfortunately for Singh, the club decided that a loan move away from the club would suit him at the moment, and he has been on the market looking for a club in recent weeks.
The former SC Braga star had interest from K.A.A Gent and R.A.C Seraing in Belgium, but following engagements with his former loan club Chaves, he has opted to rejoin the newly promoted club.
He spent the second half of the 2018/19 season on loan at Chaves before their ultimate relegation to the second division.
FARPost can confirm that the attacker flew from Belgium to Portugal this past weekend, and a deal has been agreed between the two clubs.
Chaves are expected to announce Singh in the next 48 hours.
On the international stage, his last national team appearance was in a 0-0 draw against Zimbabwe in a 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Harare.
He has represented Bafana Bafana on nine occasions, scoring three goals in the process.
