Marumo Gallants coach desperate to turn the tide
Marumo Gallants head coach Romain Folz is desperate to turn the tide and end their winless streak in the DStv Premiership.
Bahlabane Ba Nthwa lost their first league game with a 1-0 scoreline to Orlando Pirates last week to continue experiencing a dreadful start to the new campaign.
Marumo Gallants are now languishing at the basement of the DStv Premiership table with four points from five outings. The Limpopo club is now as desperate for points as they are yet to taste a win.
The side hopes to turn their fortunes when they welcome Swallows at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, 4 September. The kick-off is at 15:00.
“It’s going to be a competitive and difficult game as compared to the previous matches that we have already played. You know, in this league, every game is a competitive encounter. Every team tries its best to give its maximum performance going to the game, and we will also give our best shot,” Folz told the Marumo Gallants media department.
The Frenchman went on to give his honest assessments of his team’s recent performances.
“We understand the situation we are in right now and the need for points. We are not happy with our position in the log at the moment. We understand the fact that our performance has been good as we are playing good football. We are able to execute very good things on and off the ball, but we understand it’s not enough to get the results that we are looking for,” he added.
“This is a moment where we need to improve in that department to get those performances linked to fruitful results. We played well in the Pirates game, but we didn’t get the results, and that should be something we must learn from. So, in that situation, we knew we would face good opponents, but we also knew that we would give our best to be a better team on that day and try to build momentum going into the rest of the season.
The 31-year-old mentor continued: “The simple fact is that if we are looking to do something [get better results] this season, it must start now, and we must understand that all good performances in terms of content must be linked to results as soon as possible and I’m sure we have the capacity to do that and we will try our best to do that starting with our next game.”
