TS Galaxy’s good start is no accident, says Msimango

TS Galaxy defender Given Msimango reckons that the Rockets’ decent start to the new season is no accident but a reward for planning and patience.

The Mpumalanga-based outfit has gotten off to the perfect start to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, as the club has come full circle after last year’s horrible run in the top-flight.

Sead Ramovic’s side have had a successful window period, adding players with experience of winning the PSL title. The likes of Sibusiso Vilakazi and Bernard Parker know what it is like to fight for the league title and can lead the team to reach higher levels this term.

Msimango credits their good start to proper planning and hard work

“It’s a very good start for the club. This goes down to show that the hard work we have put in during the pre-season is not a mistake, but consistency and hard work, and the result are showing now.

“Nothing much has changed from our side, it is just that we had more time to work on things we were lacking last season. So, we will try to maintain the consistency, the morale, and the fact that we kept more or less of the very same squad we had from the last campaign. I think that has helped us a lot and to also manage to keep clean sheets as we are working together as a team to achieve our goals as a club,” the 25-year-old footballer told TS Galaxy’s media department.

But despite the turnaround, the Brakpan-born star centre-back is keen to keep his feet on the ground and not let their good start lead to complacency and set sights on finding the back of the net more often for his side.

“I aim to improve my numbers [scoring more goals] as I have been scoring a lot of goals in the previous season.

“So, I’m hoping to help the team in that aspect of scoring goals and, of course, doing my own priorities, which is defending well, giving the team the much-needed points, and the rest will be up to the guys,” he added.

TS Galaxy will play their next league game on Saturday, 3 September, against Cape Town City at home, with the kick-off scheduled for 20:00 in the evening.
