How youngsters have carried Hunt’s SuperSport United so far this season
SuperSport United mentor Gavin Hunt has praised his youngsters, who have been excellent so far this season.
According to the SuperSport coach, the youngsters have carried the team so well in the early stages of the 2022/23 campaign.
Thapelo Maseko has been excellent as the 18-year-old has scored two goals so far.
Luke Fleurs and Kegan Johannes have been solid at the back and the duo of Jamie Webber and Jesse Donnhas been bossing the midfield.
The Tshwane outfit has a youthful squad. Most of their regular starters are young players who coach Hunt has put his faith in.
“I think young players have been stand out players this season, they’ve carried the team a bit. I think young players have been excellent,” said Hunt.
“We have to give these young ones a chance and try to build a team for the future. Try to get results at the same time.”
Hunt further revealed that he is impressed by the effort put by youngsters which improves the performance of the team. The only thing left now is to start getting positive results.
“Results haven’t been coming, but performance wise we’ve been very good, we’ll get better as time goes on. We’ll take it one game at a time, try to make sure the performance improves game-by-game,” he added.
Hunt’s team seem to have found their form. The side has won their previous two matches in the DStv Premiership. They defeated Mamelodi Sundowns and Maritzburg United, respectively, with a 2-1 scorelne.
SuperSport will be back on action on Saturday, 18th September. They will be away from home as they take on Kaizer Chiefs.
Hunt will be eyeing to make it three-out-of-three in the league, banking on his youngsters to once again come to the party and give an excellent performance.
