Former Orlando Pirates co-coach Fadlu Davids has broken his silence on the next chapter of his career, amid links to the Swallows coaching job.
The former Maritzburg United coach has hinted at a possible return to management soon.
“Stay tuned for the next chapter in my career,” he said.
RECHARGING BATTERIES
Davids said he had been recharging the batteries after being released by Pirates in June this year.
“It’s been a period of recharging the batteries and planning for the future. Look forward to being more interactive in the future,” the 41-year-old said.
FANS CONNECT DAVIDS TO SWALLOWS JOB
In reaction, some fans believe Davids is hinting at a possible move to Swallows.
The Dube Birds are certainly on the market looking for a coach after parting ways with Dylan Kerr on Wednesday.
One of the fans, Kunich, tweeted: “Lol, going to Swallows, not hard to guess Mr Fadlu, Congratulations and good luck.”
Taking his turn, Bulelani reacted by saying: “Anything from Swallows you can fit like a glove there.”
Another supporter Ntando Ndabeni encouraged Davids to aim for the Dube Birds job.
“Swallows has an opening coach!”
A fan, Thando Njamini, reacted to Davids’ comments by suggesting that he needed to return to Maritzburg.
“Please do another Maritzburg United in your next project, that team was class. One of the best PSL teams in the last decade. Excellent in possession, lethal in transition,” he said
Another supporter Bavino, simply wished Davids well, saying he tried his best at Pirates.
“Wish you well in your next project coach. It didn’t work out at our beloved Bucs but hope it does work out this time. Up the Bucs,” he said.
Davids worked alongside Mandla Ncikazi as Pirates finished empty-handed last season.
The Buccaneers came close to silverware but lost 1-0 to RB Berkane in the Confederation Cup final played in Nigeria.
The trophy drought prompted Pirates’ management to reshuffle the team by releasing Davids and several players.
The Soweto giants demoted Ncikazi to work as an assistant to new head coach Spaniard Jose Riveiro.
