Arthur Zwane on when Khune and Billiat return to action

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has given an update on when Khama Billiat and Itumeleng Khune are likely to return to action.

Billiat has been out since early September after sustaining a knee injury which he picked up against AmaZulu in a DStv Premiership clash.

Khune, on the other hand, had to make way for Brandon Petersen in Stellenbosch early in the game.

Zwane has since given an update on when the duo is expected back.

ZWANE’S UPDATE

“Khama, we will monitor him today [Thursday] and see if he is ready to play,” Zwane told the media at Naturena.

He further said Khune would miss Saturday’s tie against Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“Itu is not gonna be available for this weekend’s game. Hopefully, going forward, he will be available.”

After the Stellenbosch tie, Zwane indicated that Khune’s injury was seemingly a minor knock.

Judging by his update, the former Bafana Bafana number one could be back soon in between the sticks.

On another note, Chiefs will welcome George Matlou from suspension and sturdy defender Zitha Kwinika.

“If my memory serves me, George is back, and Zitha is also back from suspension,” he added.

Zwane revealed that versatile player Happy Mashiane “had been battling a little”. “He started training two days ago, and we’re also managing him,” he said.

Zwane hopes his players will remain injury free throughout the season.

“We have a clean bill of health, and we’re hoping we will keep it that way

Maybe one or two knocks. At this stage, we need everybody available so we get the chemistry right.”

Chiefs host Chippa United in Durban after three successive league wins. They will be hoping to build on that.
