Manchester United coach McCarthy pledges support to Josephs academy

Manchester United strikers’ coach Benni McCarthy has sent his message of support to Moeneeb Josephs for setting up a football academy.

McCarthy has sent a recorded message on Instagram throwing his weight behind his former goalkeeper coach at AmaZulu.

Bafana Bafana all-time leading scorer McCarthy said he was delighted to see his former team-mate progress with the academy football project.

“I am just finding out how things are going with the academy and how things are evolving a little bit,” he said.

“Hope you are making good progress. I know you are a hard worker. I hope you will make good progress.”

The former Orlando Pirates saying he was ready to drum up support for the academy.

“I hope you will make this work and I know you are a hard worker. I’m a phone call away,” McCarthy said.

“I know that I’m on the other side of the world. But I’m a phone call away and let me know if I can come to your aid in any possible way.”

The former Porto star said he would consider inviting Josephs and his academy investors to Manchester to drum up support for the project.

INVITATION TO MANCHESTER UNITED

McCarthy said he was willing to engage one of the United stars to send messages of encouragement to the academy project.

“Once you guys find your feet before the season finishes maybe you can do something. Fly out to Manchester, we go for dinner, we go for lunch then we can invite one or two players. It would be a nice little gesture,” he said.

Josephs has not attached himself to any team since his exit from AmaZulu alongside McCarthy.

The former Bafana Bafana keeper Josephs had a successful career at Bidvest Wits. He then spent time Pirates where McCarthy also wound up his career upon returning home.

Usuthu released McCarthy last season and hired Brendan Truter who too left the position recently.
