Sekhukhune United regroup for training camp

Sekhukhune United have regrouped ahead of friendlies which they have lined up to keep players fit during the DStv Premiership break as a result of the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Babina Noko spokesperson Thina Ramantswana confirmed to FARPost that they had regrouped for camp training.

Ramantswana added that they had lined up friendlies to keep players in form during the break.

“The team is back in camp. Yes, we will be playing friendly games, but the teams that we will be playing against are not confirmed yet,” she tells FARPost.

SEKHUKHUNE NON-COMMITTAL ON MORE SIGNINGS

She was non-committal on the possibility of the league newcomers strengthening their squad further.

“Regarding the transfer window [activities], I cannot comment on that,” Ramantswana said.

Sekhukhune recently signed versatile Given Mashikinya from Maritzburg United.

The 31-year-old is set to offer Sekhukhune defensive and midfield options.

He can play as a central midfielder and right-back.

Mashikinya told the club’s website that he was excited to be part of the Babina Noko family.

“I’m excited to be here. I’m going to work hard to maintain the good name of the club. It’s interesting times ahead I’m looking forward to the remaining part of the season and beyond,” he said.

Sekhukhune are set to start a new lease of under coach Brandon Truter.

The former AmaZulu coach replaced Kaitano Tembo who parted ways with Sekhukhune last month.

The former SuperSport United gaffer left the team lying in the lower half of table.

Sekhukhune are second from bottom with 11 points 12 games having played one game more than bottom-placed Maritzburg United.

The Team of Choice also have 11 points are will begin the second stanza of the league under coach Fadlu Davids.

The former Orlando Pirates co-coach replaced John Maduka who was shown the exit door weeks ago.

Sekhukhune will restart their season against AmaZulu at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on December 31 2022.

The DStv Premiership is on break to pave the way for the ongoing World Cup.

The league will only resume at the end of next month.
