What Andisiwe Mgcoyi learnt on her visit to Qatar for World Cup

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies frontwoman Andisiwe Mgcoyi has revealed what she has learnt on her visit to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup edition.

This was in celebration of her Player of the Season award that she won for the 2021 Hollywoodbets Super League campaign following her stellar performances, which saw her banging 27 goals for Banyana Ba Style.

The trip to Qatar was courtesy of Hyundai South Africa, which is one of the Tshwane giants’ sponsors.

Mgcoyi divulged that her visit to Qatar was an eye-opener as she realised the importance of the development and integration of players into the first team.

She further stated that she has also picked up some techniques and ideas that will add value to her football career and help her grow as a player.

MGCOYI SPEAKS…

“While watching France the other day, I saw Mbappe on the pitch, and I realised the importance of the development and integration of players into the senior team,” Mgcoyi told Sundowns’ media department.

“It showed that with thorough development, a player can reach great heights, and it is something I will instill in the players that I coach back at home.”

The lethal forward also expressed her gratitude for being awarded the opportunity to travel to Qatar.

“This is a dream come true for me given that I have never watched any World Cup game live since I started my football career,” she added.

“It has always been my childhood dream to witness the FIFA World Cup in person and with the opportunity that has been given to me.

“I am excited to see the world’s biggest showpiece, more especially because I am passionate about the sport.”

In the just-ended Super League season, the 34-year-old managed to score only 12 goals for the red-hot Brazilians.

Meanwhile, Mgcoyi revealed that she believes that Brazil or France will win the World Cup as both sides boast her favourite international players.
