Ex-Sekhukune United attacker Walter Musona has issued a come-and-get-me plea to DStv Premiership teams after winning big at the 2021/22 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League awards.
Musona walked away with the much-coveted Zimbabwe’s 2021/22 Soccer Star of the Season award on Friday night in Harare.
The former Polokwane City winger was rewarded for his sterling efforts for FC Platinum when they clinched their fourth title on the trot.
The 26-year-old, who is brother to former Kaizer Chiefs Knowledge Musona scored 14 goals and provided six assists for FC Platinum, in a season they grew from strength to strength following a rather slow start.
What thrills Musona is the fact that he made a successful redemption after being offloaded by Sekhukune United in August 2021.

In January he rejoined FC Platinum where he initially rose to stardom and he immediately became the team’s mainstay.
“This was a perfect move to rejoin FC Platinum. I’m happy that the support I received helped me rise at a time I had lost hope,” Musona said.
“I was honestly in low spirits when I came back but the club [FC Platinum] welcomed me with open arms.
“I have restarted it where it all began. I believe this is a stepping stone for me to attract interest in South Africa or even beyond. I’m happy and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me.”
Caps United striker William Manondo and Dynamos’ Frank Makarati were Soccer Star of the Year first and second runner up respectively.
Musona took time to pay tribute to ex-Chippa coach Norman Mapeza who gave him a second chance at FC Platinum.
“We all know how good he [Norman Mapeza] is and how strict he is. I’m grateful that he gave me a second chance when I came back knocking on his door.
“This accolade came because of the opportunity he gave me to redeem myself. If you noticed, I started from the bench in my first games, but I gradually got more game time until I was fit enough to start. That’s how I recovered.
“It’s a process that gave us results. We both won awards tonight [Friday], and I’m grateful for this achievement,” he added.
Mapeza was voted coach of the season 2021/22 for stirring the platinum miners to their fourth title.
