WAFCON winning Banyana star continues search for new club

Banyana Banyana midfielder Nomvula Kgoale has revealed that she is still searching for a new team after parting ways with the Spanish side CD Parquesol

The talented midfield maestro, Kgoale, says she has no idea who will come running for her services, as she keeps on training on her own to remain in top shape.

Kgoale was omitted by coach Desiree Ellis for the Banyana’s international friendly match against Australia in October, citing that she excluded the midfielder as she has no team that she plays for competitively.

The 27-year-old represented South Africa at the 2010 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup before making her Banyana debit in May 2019 during the 3-0 loss to the United States Women’s National Soccer Team (USWNT) in an international friendly clash.

However, ‘The Lipstick Lady’, as she is popularly known, can not be easily written off as she remains an integral part of the Banyana squad given her extensive experience.

And the role she played in helping South Africa to win their first-ever Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title back in August this year.

“What I’m doing right now is practising on my own. I have no idea who is going to come for my services. I’m just training that’s the best I can do right now,” she said during the Limpopo Sport Awards on Sunday at the Ranch Hotel, in Polokwane.

When she was asked if she is afraid that she might miss out on the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year as she hasn’t found a club to play for, Kgoale said: “Not really. I believe that what is meant to be will be whether I play abroad or locally.

“If the coach feels like I’m good enough to play in the World Cup she will include me despite where I will be playing.

”For example, Bambanani Mbane, Thalea Smidt, Kaylin Swart, Andile Dlamini play locally but the coach thinks they are good to play in the national team, so even if I don’t play abroad I still play football.”
