Former Chiefs’ Philani Zulu makes promise after joining Sekhukhune

DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United have acquired the services of former Kaizer Chiefs utility player Philani Zulu and the latter has promised Babina Noko that he will ‘add value’.

Zulu was last in the books of AmaZulu during the 2021/22 season after he was released by Amakhosi.

The 30-year-old featured in 25 matches in all competitions, including in the CAF Champions League for Usuthu.

However, Zulu, who can play as a left-back, left-winger and in central midfield struggled to secure a move in the first round of the current Premier Soccer League (PSL) campaign.

“I have been with Sekhukhune for the past two weeks and I would like to thank the technical team and the players for the way they welcomed me,” said Zulu.

WHAT IT MEANS FOR PHILANI ZULU TO BE AT SEKHUKHUNE UNITED

“I felt at home the first day I arrived because coming to a club like this where the players get together, which means more spirit towards being part of the team.

“I am happy to be part of the team and now that I have joined the team, I will try my best to add as much value as I possibly can to make sure that I pull along with the team.

“It’s going to take time for me to blend in and learn the culture of the team but I am ready as a player,” he added.

LIFELINE FOR MAHASHE

Sekhukhune also announced the signing of defender Mzwanele Mahashe.

Mahashe spent time at Royal AM last season. He failed to secure a move to AmaZulu after weeks of training with the team while Brandon Truter was in charge.

But Mahashe has found a lifeline after Babina Noko announced his arrival on Tuesday.

“I am honoured to be part of the Sekhukhune family. It’s been an amazing experience and we have been putting in the hours and the hard work,” said Mahashe.

“I know the team is not in a good position right now but that’s not the main priority right now. The priority is to work hard as a team and we have a great technical team and a top coach [Truter].

“We also have a good squad. It’s just that the team is not in a good position right now but we are working towards getting out of that position.

“For me coming to the team I bring a lot of experience and I have been around for some time now,” concluded Mahashe.
