TS Galaxy boss Sukazi: ‘SA teams should follow our steps’
TS Galaxy chairman Tim Sukazi has urged Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams to emulate his side’s European tour initiative.
The Rockets recently embarked on a journey to Turkey during the enforced FIFA World Cup break to prepare for the resumption of the DStv Premiership.
They became the first South African team to do such. The Mpumalanga outfit spent two weeks in the camp in Europe, during which they played four friendly matches.
In their first match, they played a 1-1 stalemate with Giresunspor before they were hammered 5-1 by Serie A’s
They, once again, played a one-all draw with Al Batin prior to suffering a 2-1 defeat to SG Dynamo Dresden.
Sukazi believes that the lessons they acquired during their trip will bear fruit in the long run.
SUKAZI URGES PSL TEAMS TO DO EUROPEAN TOURS
“This kind of initiative is priceless,” he said during the interview with FARPost.
“It’s something that I would urge every club in South Africa to follow in our footsteps.
“Undertake it [European tours] for the benefit of football in South Africa strictly.
“It wasn’t necessarily about TS Galaxy, we were representing a country.
“So I really urge every club to do it, it would benefit the country for the betterment of football.
“In my view, there are a number of ways to raise the standard of our league and our game.
“Of course, the football standard on the pitch but this kind of an initiative is one, football education of coaches is another and a few other things.
“So all put together, if they were undertaken properly, they would really raise the standard of our game.”
Galaxy resume their DStv Premiership season away to Maritzburg United who are looking to collect as many points as they can to move away from the relegation zone.
Sead Ramovic’s side is currently 12th in the standings and have 13 points in the bag after 12 games.
