PSL announces passing of marketing guru Peter Mancer
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) have announced the passing of one of its long serving advisor Peter ‘Squire’ Mancer.
The league released a statement on Monday confirming Mancer’s death, but did not divulge the course of his death.
‘Squire’, as he was affectionately known within the football fraternity, served as the PSL Marketing and Broadcasting specialist advisor for many years.
Details of his funeral are yet to be announced.
PSL MOURN PETER MANCER
“The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is mourning the sad passing of Mr Peter ‘Squire’ Mancer,” the league said.
“Mr Mancer spent many years as a PSL Marketing and Broadcasting specialist advisor.”
PSL chairman Dr Irvin Khoza described the late Mancer as dependable whose word was bankable.
“We express our sincere condolences to the Mancer family. Your loss is indeed our loss. Together with you, we will miss the gentle giant – Mancer the dancer,” said the Chairman in the dame statement.
“When I think about Squire, I think of pedigree, he was one of a kind. Dependable, tenacious, abundance of energy. His word was bankable,” said Dr Khoza.
“The Mancer family will announce funeral arrangements in due course.”
MOMENT OF SILENCE FOR LEGEND PELE
Meanwhile the league has also paid tribute to the late World football Icon Pele.
The three-time World Cup winner with Brazil passed away last week after a battle with cancer.
The League observed a moment of silence in all the DStv Premiership fixtures this past weekend.
“The Premier Soccer League (PSL) will observe a moment of silence for the late Brazilian football icon, Pelé.
“The PSL sends deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the global football community. May his soul repose peacefully.”
The first part of Pele’s two-day funeral is currently underway at the Santos Stadium in Sao Paulo.
It is attended by amongst others FIFA President Gianni Infantino and other world football dignitaries.
The 82-year-old will be buried at the Memorial Necropole Ecumenica only in presence of family on Tuesday.
