Magesi officially unveil Clinton Larsen as their new head coach

Motsepe Foundation Championship rookies Magesi FC have officially announced Clinton Larsen as the club’s new head coach.

Larsen was announced during a media briefing held at Meropa Casino in Polokwane on Wednesday. He joins on a short-term deal until the end of the season with an option to extend.

Larsen will be assisted by Jacky Ledwaba, who relinquished his head coach role.

“It’s been three years since I have been out of the NFD or the PSL, but I didn’t just see this as an opportunity to get back,” he said.

“What excited me about the project was number one coach Jacky (Ledwaba) wanted me here, and that means the world to me. Number 2, there are players at the club that I have considered before.

“You know it’s always easier when you arrive at the club and there are players who know you and can transfer the message to the rest of the group. I am excited, and I think the players are also excited. We have 18 games ahead of us and a Cup starting on Friday,” he said.

LARSEN LOOKS FORWARD TO THE ACTION

“We are just looking forward to every single game. The players are excited about the fact that they are enjoying their football. I want to sleep nicely as a coach, win, lose or draw, knowing that my team is playing the brand of football that makes me and the supporters proud.

“That is what we are working hard to bring into the team. The culture we are trying to create is to have the ball more than the opponent. To try and score more goals than the opponents.”

On Friday, Larsen’s first match will be against La Masia in the Nedbank Cup at the Wits Stadium. They currently sit 10th in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 18 games remaining.
