Rafiq De Goede’s utmost promise to Maritzburg United
Maritzburg United signing Rafiq De Goede has vowed to bring stability and help the team survive the chop this season.
The defender also promised to give 100 per cent in every game he plays for the Team Choice. The player was officially announced as a Maritzburg player on Wednesday evening from Stellenbosch.
De Goede becomes Fadlu Davids’ second signing of the window following the arrival of the right-back Wayde Jooste.
WHAT RAFIQ DE GOEDE INTENDS BRING TO MARITZBURG…
“My main priority is to assist the team to get back to the winning ways,” said De Goede.
The Blue Army’s fans were in jubilation mood to see the ex-Stellies skipper’s move confirmed. They will be eager to see if he will deliver on his promises.
The KZN club describes De Goede as a “quick and physical centre-back” who will bring experience at the back.
“Rafiq will bring a wealth of experience and knowledge around our players. His physicality, aerial dominance and sound defensive craft make him a complete centre-back,” said the club.
‘Rafa’, as he is popularly known, revealed how happy he was to be part of the Maritzburg family.
RAFIQ DE GOEDE FEELS AT HOME…
“I am excited to join the Team of Choice,” he added.
“I have settled well in the team, and coach Fadlu and the players have welcomed me with open arms.”
De Goede’s presence could be one solution to Maritzburg’s leaky defence. The KZN side has let in 21 goals in 14 games.
They languish at the basement of the DStv Premiership Log Standings with 11 points.
Maritzburg’s next assignment will be against Marumo Gallants on Saturday, 7 December, at Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.
