‘Winning is in our DNA’: Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm

Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm has reacted to the Nedbank Cup last 32 draw that saw the Soweto giants drawn against second-tier league outfit All Stars, stating that winning is in the club’s DNA.

Pirates are one of the four teams DStv Premiership teams set to face National First Division; Motsepe Foundation Championship sides in the Nedbank Cup.

The other clubs are Golden Arrows, who will face Pretoria Callies, Marumo Gallants versus Magesi as well as Chippa United and Polokwane City.

Speaking after the draw on Thursday night, Timm says it was important for the Buccaneers to keep winning, especially after the recent MTN8 triumph.

TIMM EXPLAINS THE WINNING FEELING

“We are Orlando Pirates, we need to win all the time. We try to win, it’s in our DNA now it doesn’t change,” Timm told journalists.

“Of course we want to win and we will prepare well for that game, pressure or not. It doesn’t really matter who you play.

“The approach needs to be the same. When the time comes for this fixture we will be prepared for it.”

MTN8 TROPHY MOTIVATION

“I wouldn’t say (it gave us) confidence but that feeling that we had, the winning feeling is an addictive one. I know for our people too, and that’s the feeling we are chasing for sure and that comes with obviously winning the trophy.”

ON FACING ALL STARS

“I know enough, I have had conversations with the head coach (Sinethemba Badela). I know he is close friends with coach Rulani (Mokwena) so I can probably figure what’s bound to come.

“In saying that, he is a good person and that’s why I say that the game needs to be approached with respect as all games should be. We will prepare accordingly to go through to the next round.”

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) is yet to confirm the dates and venues for the Nedbank Cup last 32 fixtures.
