Bafana Bafana striker Lyle Foster might be among South Africaโ€™s highest-paid players currently following his recent move to Championship side Burnley FC.

The former Orlando Pirates forward, Lyle Foster, could be earning a weekly gross in excess of R430,000 [ยฃ20,000] before tax at Burnley.

This could be the case as R215,000 [ยฃ10,000] is said to be the lowest weekly wage for a Championship player.

Lyle Foster could earn more as Burnley players are among the highest paid in the second tier. UK media reports have confirmed the figures.

Therefore, Lyle Foster, who graduated from Orlando Pirates academy, might be earning over R20 million annually.

The 22-year-old Lyle Foster joined Burnley from K.V.C Westerlo in Belgium. The former DStv Premiership star was earning R4 million before tax in Belgium.

According to reports in the UK media, Burnley players are among the highest paid in the Championship.

Therefore, Lyle Foster might be among those earning handsomely following his transfer believed to be worth R172 million [ยฃ8 million].

Burnley are said to be better in terms of perks alongside Sheffield United, Sunderland, Watford, Reading, Stoke City and Middlesbrough.

A Burnley Express newspaper article of January 25 2023 confirms that players in the second tier indeed earn big.

โ€œBut it isnโ€™t just the top-flight where players can earn millions of pounds per year to fund a celebrity lifestyle filled with cars, houses and high-fashion clothing,โ€ the report reads.

The data says most Championship players earn seven-digit perks annually.

The data indicates that 81 players out of some 200 players in the Championship pocket at least R22 million [ยฃ1 million] per annum.

The report adds that top-100 stars take home a total of ยฃ2,673,000 per week and ยฃ128,304,000 annually.

Data from another UK website capology.com and salarysport.com seem to confirm these figures.

The website has published a list of high earners in the Championship.

The list indicates that Reading FCโ€™s defender Baba Rahman is the highest paid in the Championship.  

The Ghanaian left-back grosses R1.9 million [ยฃ89,000] per week and R63 million [ยฃ3,027,000] per year.

The lowest paid on the list of 200 players is Middlesbroughโ€™s Matt Crooks, according to capology.com.

Crooks gets a weekly gross of R233,000 [ยฃ10, 835] and R11 million [ยฃ520,000] per annum.
