Magesi move a restoration for Manuel Kambala

Mozambique International midfielder Manuel Kambala has described his move to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Magesi as a restoration.

Kamba made his debut for the club on Friday after finally sealing a deal. He also scored the winning goal for the Clinton Larsen coached side against Venda Football Academy at Thohoyandou Stadium.

The 31-year-old has been without a team since he parted ways with Baroka following their relegation last season. He has spent three seasons at the club.

Kambala was also linked with a move to Cape Town City at the beginning of the current season, but nothing materialised.

There were also reports that he could return to his former club União Desportiva do Songo.

MANUEL KAMBALA MAKES IMMEDIATE IMPACT

Speaking to FARPost, Kambala admits it was a difficult period for him to be left out in the cold.

“It’s always good to do what we like, it was a difficult time, the move is more than restoration,” he said.

“I had options to go somewhere else. But I made a decision to choose and embrace this project,” he said regarding the move to Magesi,” he said.

“We are such a humble team. I’m happy for the goal and I’m happier to do it when I come here, that is to help the club conquer necessary points.”

MAGESI HAVING A DECENT SEASON

Friday’s win has taken Magesi to 22 points, eight points from the usual 30 points needed to survive relegation.

They are also nine points above bottom placed Black Leopards with both clubs having played 17 games.

They will take a break from League action to face Marumo Gallants in the top 32 of the Nedbank Cup fixture at Royal Bafokeng on Tuesday.

After that Magesi will face some tough league fixtures. They take on JDR Stars at home, followed by AmaTuks away, Pretoria Caillies at home and a Polokwane derby against Polokwane City afterwards.
