Why Pirates loanee Tshegofatso Mabasa is sidelined at Sekhukhune
"I can't fault him for anything but..."
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has explained the lack of game time for Orlando Pirates loanee Tshegofatso Mabasa.
Mabasa last featured for Babina Noko during the 1-0 win in a DStv Premiership match against Stellenbosch.
Since then, the 26-year-old has struggled for game time or even to make the match day squad.
Mabasa is on a season-long loan from the Buccaneers.
WHY TSHEGOFATSO MABASA IS STRUGGLING FOR GAME AT SEKHUKHUNE UNITED
“It’s just about the performance,” Truter explained after their defeat by Cape Town City.
“The guys that are playing have been doing well. [Chibuike] Ohizu has been scoring and he continues. Tashreeq [Morris] came on and he also gave a good performance but Tshego is a good professional.
TRUTER CALLS ON ORLANDO PIRATES LOANEE TO BE PATIENT
“I can’t fault him for anything but he is up for selection but he is also a case of the guys in his position performing so he has to be patient,” added the Sekhukhune coach.
“There is also Tlotlo Leepile [who is struggling with game time], there are guys in his position that are performing. But after a result like this you have to look at what changes you can make to the playing personnel.”
Mabasa has scored just two goals in the 12 matches that he has played for the Limpopo side so far.
Meanwhile, Truter also maintains the importance of keeping the same winning team for the sake of building combinations.
“Consistency is key, that’s why there are minimal changes in the line-up and that’s what we want. Because then we build partnerships and a bit of chemistry and understanding between the players.”
Victor Letsoalo is the current clubs top goal scorer in the DStv Premiership with four goals. He is followed by Chibuike Ohizu with three goals.
