Rulani Mokwena responds to Al Ahly coach’s plea

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has responded to Al Ahly coach Marcel Koller’s plea that Sundowns should play fair in their last two matches in the CAF Champions League.

Al Ahly’s fate of progressing to the knockout stages is in Sundowns’ hands following a 5-2 defeat on Saturday.

The win saw Sundowns assume pole position, once again, with 10 points amassed from their four Group B games.

Mathematically, as it stands, Masandawana as good as through to the next round of the competition. As for the Red Devils, they must get maximum points against Al Hilal and Coton Sport on the condition Sundowns doesn’t drop points.

MOKWENA ON MARCEL KOLLER’S REMARKS

Mokwena has given Koller his word guaranteeing him that they will be fair and play to the best of their ability, as their main aim at the club is to win every match they play.

“We are honest. Believe me, we are honest. We will do the best we can to win football matches, and it’s important that we continue to win football matches,” said Mokwena.

“If my colleague thinks we cannot, he can be 100% guaranteed that we will give everything to win the next couple of matches.

“Every single match we try to win, we play to win, we work to win every single day so we will play even more fairly.

TAKING IT ONE STEP AT A TIME

Mokwena further revealed that they are not getting carried away with their achievement as they are taking it one game at a time. They are following a plan and vision they set up from the first day.

“The first goal, I maintained from day one that the first goal is to get to 10 points. So we tick that box, and we now have to work out our way because we want to finish number one in everything we do.

“We want to win the group, so we have to assess the group, what it means for us if we finish first, what it means for us if we finish second,” he added.
