Sandile Zungu hints at more departures at AmaZulu FC

AmaZulu FC chairman Sandile Zungu has not ruled out further departures from the club this season.

Sandile Zungu has hinted that Lehlohonolo Majoro, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan may not be the last three players to leave AmaZulu as the campaign reaches the business end.

The Usuthu boss is evidently not pleased with the performance of the club and some of the players this season.

Under the guidance of coach Romain Folz, AmaZulu FC have been inconsistent in the DStv Premiership, struggling to find a winning formula.

They have won just six games in 23 games played in the league, and AmaZulu are also out of the Nedbank Cup and lost the MTN8 final to Orlando Pirates.

At the start of the 2022/23 campaign, AmaZulu welcomed a handful of high profile signings.

They signed, Gabadinho Mhango, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Ethan Brooks, Dumisani Zuma, Augustine Kwem, Rally Bwalya, Riaan Hanamub, Thendo Mukumela, Veluyeke Zulu, George Maluleke and Sibusiso Mabiliso.

However, some of these big-name players have failed to live up to expectations.

The KZN side further strengthened the squad in the January transfer window after signing Jody February on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns and Sede Dion from Marumo Gallants.

MORE PLAYERS TO BE SHOWN THE EXIT DOOR AT AMAZULU?

Zungu has stated that more players could be shown the exit door at the end of the season.

“Lehlohonolo Majoro, Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan will leave the club,” Zungu told FARPost.

“So when it comes to other players who could leave, we will wait for the season to end then we can make a decision.”

With Folz recently penning a new three-year deal at AmaZulu, indications are that he will be given a chance to build his competitive squad.

Usuthu is on a two-game winless streak which also saw them being knocked out of the Nedbank Cup in the round of 16 by minnows Dondol Stars.

AmaZulu will be looking to return to winning wats when the league action resume after FIFA break.

They will face relegation-threatened Swallows at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 1st of April 2023.
