George Maluleka on impact of Mphahlele and Buchanan’s exits

AmaZulu midfielder George Maluleka has spoken out on the impact of the exits of Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan.

The club’s head coach Romain Folz confirmed on Wednesday that the duo had departed the club.

The former Kaizer Chiefs men are no longer training with the KZN side and will have to seek new homes when the July transfer window opens.

Maluleka, who’s one of the seniors, says losing Mphahlele and Buchanan is a huge blow to them as players.

“It makes a big difference, obviously losing players, colleagues but the management would answer that much better,” he told the journalists.

“For us, obviously, it’s a huge knock because these are the people that we shared a change room with.

“We just gonna have to brush it off and try make sure we carry on with the last seven games.”

Meanwhile, DStv Premiership returns on Saturday, 01 April after a two-week FIFA international break.

Usuthu are set to lock horns with the relegation-threatened Swallows FC. Folz’s troops will be looking to get back to winning ways after losing their last two games.

On the other side, same as AmaZulu, the Birds suffered defeats in their previous two games. They’ve also had technical team changes after Ernst Middendorp vacated his head coach position as he secured a job in Germany.

Musa Nyatama is now stirring a ship with Morgan Mammila having been roped in as a Technical Advisor.

Maluleka believes they have what it takes to keep the maximum points at home against Nyatama’s charges.

“We have the team to be able to come back and turn things around,” he added.

AmaZulu currently sit 10th on the log standings with 28 points after 23. Meanwhile, Swallows are 14th after collecting 24 points in 23 games.

The match will be staged at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday with kick-off set for 20:00.
