Axed AmaZulu star spotted at training after Folz’s demotion

One of the axed AmaZulu stars was spotted training with the Durban outfit exactly a day after the demotion of Romain Folz.

The AmaZulu hierarchy took a decision to demote Folz after a string of poor results. Club legend Ayanda Dlamini has taken over on an interim basis.

He will be in charge with six games left before the curtain comes down on the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

Folz had ordered the club to dismiss two players – Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Keagan Buchanan. However, the players and the fans weren’t happy with the decision.

It seems like AmaZulu and Mphahlele saga has taken a new twist following the club’s technical team restructuring.

Usuthu appear to have reversed their decision to let go of ‘Rama’, who had left the club with Buchanan.

AXED AMAZULU STAR RETURNS TO TRAINING

FARPost spotted Mphahlele training with Usuthu on Wednesday. They are gearing up to square off with Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership on Sunday.

It is also understood that Mphahlele and Buchanan were on the agenda of the meeting that was held on Monday, with the club revisiting its decision on them.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the club’s president Sandile Zungu relieved ‘Fohloza’ from the coaching duties. And 32-year was redeployed to the Technical Director role.

The veteran centre-back, Mphahlele, joined the KZN outfit in August 2022 after he parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs.

In his maiden season in Durban, Mphahlele seemed like he had the time of his life, carrying out backline burden on a consistent basis for Usuthu.

He has featured 22 times across all competitions in which he found the back of the net on one occasion.

WHAT ABOUT KEAGAN BUCHANAN?

Meanwhile, it is not clear as yet whether Buchanan will also return to the Durban-based side as he was not in training.

Last week, the club recalled Majoro, who had departed with Mphahlele and Buchanan initially. This was after Zungu reportedly said they didn’t want the striker to leave on a “bad note” after being a great servant to the club.

He got minutes when they lost to Swallows in the league match on Saturday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

With six games to go, Usuthu will be looking to regather in order to come back stronger under the new leadership of Ayanda Dlamini.
