Who is the best performing player on loan this season?

Top clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have had players succeed on loan over the years, and the trend has continued in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

This season, a litany of players, including Kwame Peprah, Divine Lunga, Lebohang Lesako and Grant Margeman, are on loan.

And with an abundance of talent in PSL nowadays, players are fighting for a favour by impressing out on loan.

It’s a strategy that has effectively been utilised by most clubs, Kaizer Chiefs included.

Not all the players on loan have been able to live upto their biling.

WHO ARE THE PSL STARS ON LOAN

This season, Orlando Pirates loaned strikers Tshegofatso Mabasa, Zakhele Lepasa, and Kwame Peprah.

The trio was loaned to Sekhukune, SuperSport United and Maritzburg United respectively, with a combined six goals in all competitions.

Orlando Pirates also loaned Boitumelo Radiopane to Cape Town Spurs, where he has established himself well.

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs also loaned Darrel Matsheke and Lebohang Lesako to Swallows FC.

The two struggled for game time at Chiefs. And they are yet to make any impact at Swallows, who are fighting to preserve their Premiership status.

They have struggled for the better part of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

Masandawana loaned Divine Lunga, Promise Mkhuma, Keletso Makgalwa, Sammy Seabi, Siyanda Msani and Grant Margeman.

Among all the players loaned this season, 20-year-old Boitumelo Radiopane emerges as the best performer.

Boitumelo Radiopane has six goals under his belt for Cape Town Spurs in all competitions.

Under coach Shaun Bartlett, Radiopane is a vital cog in their bid to win the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Last season, Radiopane won the DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] reserve league golden boot with 23 goals in Pirates colours.

And Shaun Bartlett has always expressed confidence in the young strikers’ prospects.

“He is an unbelievable quality player. And he is still very young so he has got a lot to learn.

“His work rate for us was unbelievable, and he helps the team from a defending point of view.

“So it’s a matter of time and he knows he can score more goals getting into certain positions,” Shaun Bartlett told FARPost earlier this year.
