Kaizer Motaung Jr: ‘Andile Jali is a great player’

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung jr has lifted the lid on whether Amakhosi are considering bringing Andile Jali on board.

Jali has been the subject of speculation with his future at Mamelodi Sundowns hanging in the balance.

The Matatiele-born midfielder’s contract with Sundowns is coming to an end on 30 June 2023.

Indications are that the Tshwane giants will not renew Jali’s contract come the end of the season.

Some of the Chiefs’ highly-demanding supporters have been calling on the club hierarchy to sign the midfielder to add experience to the club’s youthful squad.

The Soweto giants currently have Siyethemba Sithebe, Yusuf Maart, George Matlou and Samkelo Zwane who are fighting for the central midfield position.

Motaung admitted that they had an interest in the former Orlando Pirates where he returned from Belgium. However, they couldn’t get him with Sundowns snatching him first.

KAIZER MOTAUNG JUNIOR WEIGH IN ON ANDILE JALI’S INTEREST

“Andile Jali is a great player and he was a player we were interested in when he came back from Europe,” he said on Radio 2000.

“But the linking part is now where the confusion is.

“In football, things happen and at the time he went to Sundowns and that’s history.”

Meanwhile, Stellenbosch, SuperSport United and AmaZulu are the other DStv Premiership sides that have reportedly shown interest in Jali.

Jali joined the Brazilians back in 2018 from Belgian outfit K.V Oostende on a free transfer.

He last played for Sundowns in February 2023 against Richards Bay FC. And now it remains to be seen which club will win the race to sign the former AmaTuks star.
