Chiefs coach Zwane refuses to throw in towel

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has made it clear that he is not a man that gives up easily, insisting that he will fight until the end.

Zwane will not throw in the towel until it is mathematically impossible for his side to seal second place in the DStv Premiership to quality for the CAF Champions League.

Chiefs suffered a massive setback in their pursuit to return to continental football after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sekhukhune United in Polokwane on Sunday.

The Soweto giants are now six points behind second-placed SuperSport United, who won 2-1 against AmaZulu also on Sunday.

Zwane’s troops, in fourth spot on the log standings, are also five points behind third-placed Orlando Pirates with four matches to go.

They are left with some difficult matches against relegation-threatened Chippa United and Swallows, as well as Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City.

Both Pirates and CT City are still fighting for qualification into CAF club football. But coach Arthur Zwane refuses to give up as yet.

WHY ARTHUR ZWANE REFUSES TO GIVE UP

“I am one person that does not give up easily,” he told the media after the match.

“This is football and anything can happen at any given time. We dropped points, yes I am disappointed, we could have done better.

“It’s one of those things; you never know what is going to happen because everyone is fighting to win the top eight.

“Some are fighting relegation and we are also fighting to finish in a better position. So there are no easy games at this time of the season.

“All the games are important for us, all the games. The last four games are very important and we play every game to win,” added Zwane.

CONTINUOUS ERRORS COSTING AMAKHOSI

The goal scored by Sammy Seabi for Sekhukhune on Sunday was a result of poor defending by Chiefs, an issue Zwane has been bemoaning throughout the season

“We never stop working hard, and football is a game of mistakes like I have been saying. Unfortunately, when we make mistakes, we get punished,” said Zwane.

“So let’s hope as time goes on we will get better in that department in terms of making sure we keep a clean sheet.”
