Orlando Pirates teenage trialist’s Zim club provides update

Zimbabwean giants Highlanders Football Club have provided an update on the teenage who had trials at Orlando Pirates recently.

17-year-old midfielder Prince Ndhlovu had trials at Pirates in March, but there was no update from either of the two clubs. Ndhlovu was at the Buccaneers from the 20th to the 26th of March.

The youngster has not been active this season, missing their opening three matches of the season against Black Rhinos, FC Platinum and Chicken Inn.

THE ORLANDO PIRATES TRIAL

The Bulawayo-based side has since posted an update on the latest regarding the youngster. Before travelling to South Africa for the trial in mid-March, Ndhlovu was linked to an overseas club.

He was scheduled for a month-long trial stint in Croatia at a second-tier club, HNK Vukovar 1991. However, reports were that the teenager was struggling to get a visa to travel.

According to the latest update, the youngster has landed in Central Europe, where he will spend some time on trial.

“Prince Ndhlovu has arrived for trials at SK Puntigamer Sturm Graz of Austria. We wish him the best of luck. May he continue flying the Highlanders FC and National flag high,” the club said on its social media platforms.

The development indicates that nothing came out of the youngster’s visit to Mayfair. The club he is trialling with in Graz, the second largest city in Austria after Vienna, plays in the Austrian Bundesliga.

STURM GRAZ TRIAL

Ironically, the club’s colours are black and white, just like Pirates and his Zimbabwean club, Highlanders.

Sturm Graz have won the championship three times, with the most recent in 2011.

They have also participated in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. Ndhlovu was promoted to the senior team in June 2022 after impressing in the club’s developmental side, Bosso90.
