Vusi Vilakazi discusses Pule Mmodi’s future at Arrows

Golden Arrows co-head coach Vusimuzi Vilakazi has weighed in on Pule Mmodi’s future with Abafana Bes’thende.

From the start of the season, Mmodi has been one of the main subjects of speculation in transfer news during and after both transfer windows.

The Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu are among the clubs that have been reported as his potential destinations.

Mmodi caught many eyes post his first two impressive seasons with Arrows after he signed from the second-tier outfit Uthongathi FC.

His contract will expire on 30 June and by the look of things, he’s not likely to continue at the club as there’s still no way forward as of yet.

Vilakazi lauded the player for having maintained his form despite speculations’ distractions.

He says Mmodi is a soldier he’d like to have next season even though it would be out of his hands.

“As a player, I like Pule and I’d love to have him at anytime because he’s working very hard for us,” said Vilakazi.

“Even now, we’re seeing speculations about him [set to leave] but he’s still working very hard.

“So, he’s a player when you’re thinking of people who will fight for you, he always raises his hand to say I’m available.

“So, we will see what happens…if we have Pule next season, we would be happy with that.”

Having made headlines, especially in the first round of the season, Mmodi continued magnificent displays in the yellow and green shirts.

He hasn’t missed a single match that Arrows have played in all competitions. He has also scored six goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances that he has amassed.

As of 1 July, he’ll be up for grabs as a free agent if Arrows fail to retain him.
