Dlamini explains what has prompted Ethan Brooks’ hot form lately

AmaZulu FC head coach Ayanda Dlamini has explained what has prompted Ethan Brooks’ hot run of form lately.

Brooks, who joined Usuthu from TS Galaxy at the start of the season, seemed to be struggling to fill the bill earlier in this campaign.

However, since Dlamini took over, he has suddenly hit form and added a spark to Usuthu’s attacking midfield.

Speaking after their defeat to their provincial rivals on Saturday, Dlamini insisted that Brooks wasn’t struggling but all he needed was to be granted enough opportunity to gel with the team.

Dlamini praised the 22-year-old for the fighting spirit he’s shown lately.

“I think there was nothing lacking [with his performance],” said Dlamini.

“It was all about getting the opportunity, and when he got the opportunity, he grabbed it.

“He’s been in and out of the team but I decided to play him, give him more game time.

“And I’m impressed that he used [the opportunity] very well because I believe he’s a very good youngster with a bright future.

“So, if you see his size and the way he fights on the field, it’s very, very good.”

With his maiden season in Durban set to come to an end, Brooks has made 25 appearances in all competitions.

He has found the back of the net on one occasion and provided one assist.

LOSING BAFANA BAFANA SPOT

When he was still at Galaxy, he received a couple of Bafana Bafana call-ups. The last time he donned a senior national team shirt was in March last year.

This was when SA played two friendlies against Guinea and France. He has 11 senior national team call-ups in total.

However, Brooks was part of the SA under-23 team that played the AFCON qualifier with Congo Brazzaville in one month ago.
