How much Yanga players will get as a bonus
While Marumo Gallants players were tussling with management over bonuses on the eve of their clash with Young Africans, FARPost looks at how much the Tanzania giants will pay players for a win.
Gallants players refused to train on Tuesday, demanding bonuses from management after reaching the semi-final of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Limpopo outfit has enjoyed a fairytale run in the competition while struggling on the domestic scene.
In fact, they risk getting the chop or going to the playoffs if they lose against Swallows FC on Saturday. It will be their final match of the season.
Players had to meet management on match day to thrash out the bonuses matter. Marumo Gallants’ management insists bonuses are given at their discretion.
YANGA BONUS STRUCTURE
On the other hand, Yanga long dealt with the issue of bonuses. Yanga president, Engineer Hersi Ally Said, explained their approach to the bonuses issue.
“Of course, bonuses are given at the discretion of management. But before a game, we sit down with the players and discuss the issue of bonuses.
“We make it clear when the bonuses will be paid and how much will be paid to the players. So, as they go to the game, they know what’s at stake for them,” explained Said.
FARPost has established that each Yanga player will receive the equivalent of R19,000 if they win to qualify for the finals.
They won the first leg 2-0 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The return leg at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg will decide who proceeds to the final.
“The bonus is quoted in Shillings, but in USD, it comes close to US$1000 when I convert it. That’s the bonus for players,” a player said.
He added that in the early stages of the CAF Champions League, they would receive a bonus equivalent to R9,500.
