Kannemeyer highlights the biggest problem at Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender David Kannemeyer has highlighted the biggest problem the club has been facing.

Kannemeyer reasonably knows Chiefs well as he spent four seasons with the Soweto giants from 2004/05 to 2008/09 during his playing days.

He compares the Glamour Boys to his other former side Mamelodi Sundowns, who have been brilliant on and off the field.

Over the years, Masandawana have dominated the PSL, winning trophies every season. On the other hand, it’s been the complete opposite, as Amakhosi have been struggling for form and consistency.

The last time Chiefs added a new piece of silverware in their trophy cabinet was back in 2014/15 season. Since that time, Sundowns have bagged 14 trophies.

These include; seven league titles, a CAF Champions League trophy, CAF Super Cup, an MTN8 title, two Nedbank Cups and two Telkom Knockouts.

DAVID KANNEMEYER SAYS KAIZER CHIEFS’ PROBLEM IS IN ADMINSTRATION

According to Kannemeyer, lack in adminstration compared to Sundowns have a proper structure on their plan, goals and have a properly working scouting system.

“I think the biggest issue is Chiefs don’t have a long term plan like Sundowns. I don’t know what is their long term plan,” Kannemeyer told FARPost.

“Clearly Sundowns have dominated over the last couple of years because they have a long term plan and bring in quality players.

“People always say Sundowns got money, Chiefs got money as well. Sundowns don’t just buy any player. They bring in a player that is going to fit in the system very well.

“Sundowns got a scouting system that is very great, at the moment Chiefs haven’t got that. They have been struggling to get right players.”

WHAT KAIZER CHIEFS MUST DO GOING FORWARD

Kannemeyer believes Chiefs must go back to the drawing board and fix their problems.

“They need to sit down and re-think what they really want in the next five to 10 years,” he added.
