Rulani Mokwena: What makes Wydad a difficult team to beat

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has revealed what makes Wydad AC a difficult team to beat ahead of their crucial must-win CAF Champions League semi-final, second-leg tie.

The two sides renew their rivalry on Saturday, 20 May, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 3pm.

In the first leg played in Morocco a week ago, the match ended as 0-0 draw. Both teams tried their utmost best to find the back of the net, but it couldn’t happen on the day.

In the Botola Pro League, Wydad are in second position. They are one point behind table toppers FAR Rabat with five matches left to finish the season.

In addition, Wydad are the Champions League defending champions after clinching the title last season, beating Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the final.

RULANI MOKWENA SAYS WYDAD IS A WELL-STRUCTURED TEAM

According to Mokwena, their opponent is a well-structured team and has a good identity.

“I see a team that has got good players, I see a team that [has] got good identity and structure,” said Mokwena.

“It’s a team that’s got the right type of profile. I think the level of what they have achieved is still subject to the level of criticism.

“They do everything well, where they do well, there is a demand not from themselves but also from the supporters and the media.

“We looking forward to it, the team is ready, and we’ll do the best we can to win the match.”

Heading into the encounter, Sundowns will be without their two key players, Marcelo Allende and Neo Maema.

The duo misses out after they were shown red cards in the first leg due to dangerous fouls.
