SUNDOWNS SCRAPES A 2-1 VICTORY AGAINST UJ AWAY FROM HOME

UJ started the season like a house on fire. However, in the last five games. Their form dipped, accumulating a winless record and slipping on the log table.

And coming into this game, they were looking to change their bad fortunes and secure a win, but unfortunately, it wasn’t their day.

At the start of the first half, Sundowns did not waste any time, with Lelona Daweti breaking the deadlock two minutes into the game.

From there on, Sundowns played their usual game, rotating the ball amongst each other and dominating play.

They also minimised every counterattack UJ had, restricting UJ to only two attempts at goal in the first half.

However, on the other end, Sundowas out gun blazing, looking to extend their lead, but the UJ defence looked solid.

But that did not last long, as the UJ defence lost concentration. That allowed Sundowns to extend their lead before half-time with a goal from Banyana Banyana star Melinda Kgadiete.

In the second half, Sundowns’ concentration dropped slightly, and they lost the ball occasionally.

This allowed UJ to capitalise on their mistakes on a counter. However, they failed to do the most with the opportunities they got.

UJ also showed character in the second half, defensively, limiting all the threats Sundowns had in front of goals.

Finally, in the 87th min, Biatholi Maimouna scored a goal for UJ, making the score 2-1.

With a few minutes left in the game, the Orange Army tried to get the equaliser, but it was too late.

The game ended in a 2-1 victory for the visitors, and for the home side, their winless record extends to six games.
