SuperSport United announce end of the season awards winners

DStv Premiership side SuperSport United held their end-of-the-season players’ awards on Monday night with 10 accolades handed to several top performers.

Matsatsantsa has had an impressive season since the return of coach Gavin Hunt. They finished in third place behind league winners Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who finished second.

Their log standings also mean they will return to CAF inter-club competition football. Along with Sekhukhune United, SuperSport will represent South Africa in the CAF Confederation Cup.

They missed out on an opportunity to secure a CAF Champions League spot by three points. Hunt’s return has proved to be the perfect move despite having some key players on loan deals.

The award ceremony was held at Randpark Golf Club in Johannesburg. There was no surprise as Thulani Hlatshwayo walked away with the Player of the Season award.

The 33-year-old has shown his leadership qualities and has stabilised the United defence since his move from Orlando Pirates.
