Grant Margeman opens up on his future at Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Grant Margeman on loan to rivals SuperSport United has opened up about his future at the parent club.

Following the conclusion of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season, Margeman will return to Sundowns as per agreement between the two clubs.

The midfield engine had a great spell with Matsatsantsa establishing his place in the starting line-up.

The 24-year-old played an important part in SuperSport sealing a spot for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. All-in-all, he played 26 league matches, scored two goals and provided three assists.

According to Margeman, his future at Masandawana depends head coach Rulani Mokwena’s decision. But above all, he’s willing to return to the clun and fight for his place.

“For me, I’m always willing to go back to Sundowns. I would like to see what the coach say first,” said Margeman.

“I have to hear from coach Rulani [Mokwena] his assessment of my loan spell, also what he thinks. He will have to see if I’m in his plans for next season or what, then take it from there.

“What he told me in the past is he wants me to always work hard. When I came here I was to make sure that I get the game time, I get the minutes and build my confidence back.”

Margeman joined Bafana Ba Style in early 2020 ahead of the 2020/21 season from Ajax Cape Town [now called Cape Town Spurs]. He signed a lengthy five-year deal keeping him till June 2025.

The sad part is he hasn’t been afforded an opportunity to prove himself only playing three matches.

After joining the Chloorkop-based side, he was loaned to Swallows FC. A season later, he joined SuperSport United.
