Positive news for Pirates ahead of Nedbank Cup final

Orlando Pirates have provided positive news about one of their midfielders who could make a return in the Nedbank Cup final.

The Buccaneers are set to lock horns with Sekhukhune United on Saturday at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 6 pm.

Thabang Monare, who missed Ezimnyama Ngenkani’s match against AmaZulu, could be available for selection according to the club’s website.

“The Buccaneers’ midfield could also be bolstered by the possible return of Thabang Monare, who did not feature in Durban, but has since been heavily involved in the preparations for the big fixture,” the club said in the statement.

In the last four stages of the tournament, the former Bidvest Wits midfielder only missed two matches.

Tapelo Xoki, who also missed the clash against Usuthu, will also be among the options for Jose Riveiro in the defence. The 28-year-old center-back was serving a one-match ban after having accumulated four yellow cards.

Further, as previously reported by FARPost, Pirates coach Jose Riveiro remained coy about the availability of Thembinkosi Lorch.

However, he stated that they would have almost all of their squad members available except for the suspended ones.

“We have almost 100 percent of the players available for selection,” said Riveiro.

“All the players are working hard, trying to convince the coach that they are the right players. And the intensity at training has been higher than usual.”

Meanwhile, Makhehlene Makhaula will miss the action after he picked up his fourth yellow card in a match against his former club AmaZulu.

On the other hand, Sekhukhune are likely to make do without the Zambian international Rodrick Kabwe as he has not recovered fully.
