Hungry Lions striker on the radar of three DStv Premiership clubs

Three DStv Premiership clubs are chasing the services of a gangly Hungry Lions striker, FARPost has learnt.

The striker has been part of the Hungry Lions set-up for almost a decade. And at the age of 26, the speedy forward has attracted the interest of Nedbank Cup runners-up Sekhukhune United.

The Hungry Lions forward, Angelo Van Rooi, is also being targeted by two other DStv Premiership clubs.

FARPost has it on good authority that Golden Arrows and Cape Town City have made moves to sign the forward.

Last season, Angelo Van Rooi scored three goals in 27 matches for Hungry Lions, who ended the season in fifth position. His boyhood club is eager to keep him for the coming season, but may find it difficult with interest from the topflight.

WHICH CLUB ANGELO VAN ROOI IS LIKELY TO JOIN?

Although it is not yet clear which DStv Premiership club he will join, Sekhukhune United appear to have an edge over other clubs.

The Brandon Truter-coached side is set to make their maiden appearance in the CAF Confederations Cup.

This ultimately makes them an ideal destination for the Hungry Lions striker. Whether he makes the grade or not, Sekhukhune is likely to emerge as his next destination.

They have already flexed their muscle on the transfer market after luring veteran goalminder Washington Arubi.

Babina Noko engineered Arubi’s quick return to the DStv Premiership following Marumo Gallants’ relegation.

The Gauteng-based club also signed attacking midfielder Kgothatso Mariba from Venda Football Academy.

Kgothatso Mariba signed a three-year deal with Babina Noko as they beef up their squad for the African safari.

And it will not be surprising if the Hungry Lions forward is lured to Sekhukhune United.

Moreso, Cape Town City will be hoping to sign him as a backup for the top-performing Khanyisa Mayo.

Golden Arrows are not to be ruled out having been a good destination for budding strikers.
