Super League: AmaTuks Ladies demolish Copperbelt
AmaTuks Ladies demolished Copperbelt Ladies 7-0 on Sunday, 04 June, in match-day 16 of the Hollywoodbets Super League.
The overall goals scored in match-day 16 were 29 across all eight games played this weekend in the Super League.
AMATUKS DEMOLISH COPPERBELT LADIES
The newcomers of the Super League met for the second time this season. In their first encounter in the top flight, earlier this season, Copperbelt won 2-1 at home.
Their very first encounter in the Promotional Play-offs final last year, also ended similarly, with Copperbelt winning on penalties.
So, coming into this game, AmaTuks were on a mission to avenge themselves against a team that has stolen joy from them on two occasions in the past. And that’s exactly what they did.
AmaTuks started the game on the front foot. Taking the lead just four minutes into the game, with a lovely goal from Emily Molapo.
A few minutes later after AmaTuks took the lead, the Tshwane side was rewarded with a penalty, after Thalea Smidt was brought down in the box by the Copperbelt defender, Reabetswe Sefoka.
Lethabo Ledwaba took the penalty, putting her side two goals up in the early stage of the game.
In the 24th minute, Ledwaba made it three for AmaTuks. And a few minutes later, her long-range shot hit the crossbar, missing an opportunity to secure herself a hat-trick, and to put her side one goal up before halftime.
In the second half, AmaTuks started the half slow. Despite AmaTuks having a slow start, Copperbelt failed to capitalise on the situation.
14 minutes into the second half, Molapo struck again for AmaTuks, putting her side 4-0 up. After the goal, AmaTuks increased their tempo and started to put more pressure on Copperbelt.
Copperbelt struggled throughout the game, creating close to zero chances in the game. On the other hand, AmaTuks did not stop dominating and creating chances.
They went on to score three more goals in the last quarter of the game. The three goals came from Sbahle Ndovu [x2], and Isabella Ludwig.
The final score at the Tuks stadium was 7-0 to the home side. This was the second time AmaTuks scored seven goals in one game this season. The first time was against Ma-indies.
