Orlando Pirates legend’s plea for a job

An Orlando Pirates legend has made a plea for a job within the South African football fraternity to make a contribution into the game’s development.

Daniel “Sailor” Tshabalala says he wants an opportunity in any capacity. The 45-year-old retired in 2010 while playing for the now-defunct Platinum Stars. He spent three seasons at the Buccaneers and also had a stint at FC AK.

“I am looking for a job at the moment as a coach or even management,” Tshabalala told FARPost. “But I am working on something. Hopefully, something will come up soon.”

Tshabalala currently holds the CAF B license, SAFA level 1, as well as Sports Management with FIFA.

“The qualifications are there. I just need an opportunity. I am not scared of any challenge. It’s all about pressure and challenges, so if given a chance, I would do something to contribute to football,” said the former Highlands Park development coach.

SAILOR TSHABALALA HAPPY WITH BUCCANEERS’ SEASON

Tshabalala also praised Pirates coach Jose Riveiro and the players following the recently concluded season. The Buccaneers won two trophies, MTN8 and the Nedbank Cup.

“I am happy because, in the past two seasons, we were not performing well. Winning two cups in a single season is a good achievement. I think the boys can only be better. We support the youngsters. They did a great job, and the Buccaneers are happy with them, so we are grateful.”

Tshabalala was speaking to this publication following an exhibition match between the Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs legends in Limpopo.

“It’s always a marvellous thing to play in front of the fans because this is what we love even at our age,” he said after the match.

“We know we still have fans, and they want to see us. it’s nice to give them what they deserve, and this is what we are trying to do,” concluded Tshabalala.
