Why Sekhukhune United should extend Sibusiso Vilakazi’s stay
Sibusiso Vilakazi has been with no doubt one of Sekhukhune United‘s best signings in the just ended 2022/23 PSL season. FARPost at why the club should extend Vilakazi’s stay.
The experienced midfield maestro impressed in his first season with Babina Noko bossing the midfield.
‘Villa’ joined the Polokwane side in March 2023 on a short term contract [three months] till the end of the season with a one year option to extend the deal following his ‘harsh’ exit from TS Galaxy.
EXPERIENCED MIDFIELDER
Vilakazi has proved to be a quality, consistent and an experienced midfielder. He’s flexible in a way that he can play as a number eight, number six and number 10.
The former Bafana Bafana international hit the ground running at the club in just three months. He featured in nine matches out of a possible 12.
GOOD PARTNERSHIP WITH KAMOHELO MOKOTJO
Vilakazi has built a great midfield partnership with Kamohelo Makotjo. The duo were strong at the middle of the park helping the team to a top eight finish for the first time and reaching the Nedbank Cup final.
CAF EXPERIENCE
Sekhukhune United will be playing in the CAF Confederation Cup next season after reaching the Nedbank Cup final as Orlando Pirates will be participating in the CAF Champions League.
The 33-year-old has that experience following his stints with now defunct Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns.
WHAT BRABDON TRUTER ONCE SAID ABOUT SIBUSISO VILAKAZI
“With Villa, the quality is evident, I think he brings composure into the last third, some decision-making and insight into the game,” said Truter.
“He has won trophies, has won leagues and campaigned in the CAF Champions League, played for Bafana. It will be a welcomed addition to the attack.”
