Cape Town City were also aiming to lure Van Rooi but Golden Arrows seem to have won the player’s heart.

Meanwhile the Hungry Lions duo contributed five goals during the 2022/23 Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Van Rooi scored three goals in 27 matches for Hungry Lions, while Ncube scored twice.

Despite, the low numbers, the Hungry Lions duo will be released to join the Durban based side.

“Olwethu Ncube and Van Rooi it seems teams have agreed and only personal terms left,” a source told FARPost.

Golden Arrows are believed to be planning to give the duo long term contracts if they agree on personal terms.

For Arrows, Van Rooi could help add more firepower to their strikerforce, as they have mainly relied on Knox Mutizwa and Pule Mmodi.

Golden Arrows co-coach Vusi Vilakazi is hoping to keep Mmodi who has been stalked by the two Soweto giants.

Mmodi’s contract is set to expire at the end of June. In the event that he opts to leave Arrows, Vaan Rooi could be their option next season.

Meanwhile Golden Arrows will likely lose Divine Lunga when his loan from Mamelodi Sundown ends.

After a modest 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign, theyvwill be hoping to improve next season.

They finised the season on ninth position with 38 points on their tally, 32 points behind league winners, Mamelodi Sundowns.
