Cape Town Spurs coach Shaun Bartlett has given a hint on the futures of veteran players Clayton Daniels and Nazeer Allie at the club.

The Cape Town outfit returned to SA’s top-flight through by winning thePSL Promotional/Relegation playoffs.

The Urban Warriors, known as Ajax Cape Town at the time were relegated the in 2017/18 season following a poor campaign and points deduction. They fielded an ineligible player, former Zimbabwe international striker Tendai Ndoro.

According to the mentor, the duo of Daniels and Allie are in his plans ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season.

“We’ll sit down, the core of the squad needs to remain. We’ll sit down with management, also we got contracts we need to sort out. I’m pretty sure management will reward these players with contracts,” said Bartlett.

“Age is just a number, if you see these players the way they play would you say Clayton [Daniels] is 39? Would you say Nazeer Allie is 37?

“I know how to manage them, that’s why Clayton could play almost every game. Some games I left him out, which he wasn’t happy about.

“It’s about matchday, they don’t have to run like 19-year-olds. He’s been playing for 20 years. You got to manage the players to get the best out of them. For me, he’s got a year or two left.

OTHER VERTERAN PLAYERS LIKELY TO STAY AT SPURS

The Capetonians are likely to keep the duo of Granwald Scott and Michael Morton aged 35 and 34 respectively who also played a pivotal part in promoting the club back at the top.
