Jwaneng Galaxy star eyes DStv Premiership move
Jwaneng Galaxy star Wendell Rudath is eyeing a move to the DStv Premiership following his successful season in the Botswana Premier League.
Rudath was one of the key players who helped Jwaneng clinch the league title with a game to spare. He was directly involved in 22 goals, scoring 15 goals and providing seven assists.
This publication has learnt that the 27 year-old is now a free agent after his contract with the club expired at the end of the season.
Galaxy are keen on keeping one of their stars as they have tabled a new deal. However, the player hasn’t signed as he’s eyeing a move to the South African topflight.
WHERE WENDELL RUDATH IS AIMING TO PLAY NEXT SEASON
“The just ended [BPL] season was tough, but eye opening as we won the league. Now I am looking forward to a new challenge,” Rudath told FARPost.
“My aim is to move on and play at a league that is more competitive like the DStv Premiership.
“I don’t want to settle for anything less. I am aiming to play to my highest level as far as I can.
“Right now, I haven’t received any offers yet from anyone [in South Africa], but I’m open to moving there.”
WHERE WENDELL RUDATH DRAWS HIS INSPIRATIONS FROM
The speedy winger further revealed that he draws his inspiration from fellow countryman Peter Shalulile.
Shalulile established his name in South Africa with now defunct Highlands Park FC and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“I’ve had many conversations with Peter about the South African league. He told me that it’s a very competitive league, one must work very hard to do better and succeed,” he added.
The Namibian international has 20 caps with the Brave Warriors. Currently he’s at camp as they are preparing to take on Burundi in the AFCON qualifiers.
