Etiosa Ighodaro to complete move to PSL rivals

Mamelodi Sundowns striker Etiosa Ighodaro is close to completing a move to PSL rivals ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.

Ighodaro spent the 2022/23 campaign with Chippa United where he scored 11 goals in 27 matches in all competitions.

The Nigerian international was two goals away from finishing as a top goal scorer last season. Mamelodi Sundowns talisman Peter Shalulile and Cape Town City’s Khanyisa Mayo finished joint top goal scorers with 12 goals apiece.

Prior to joining Chippa, Ighodaro was on loan in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with University of Pretoria as they magically missed out on automatic promotion to SA’s top-flight.

With the goal poacher showing impressive form in front of goal last season, this publication understands that he’s close to making a switch to PSL rivals.

SuperSport United are believed to be in the advanced stages to get Ighodaro on loan from Sundowns. The two Tshwane rivals have had a good working relationship in the transfer market in recent times.

Aubrey Modiba, Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena, Sipho Mbule and Ronwen Williams are some of the players who moved from SuperSport to Sundowns in the past few seasons.

Meanwhile, Matsatsantsa have also welcomed players from Sundowns, namely Aubrey Modiba, Ricardo Goss and Grant Margeman who were both on loan.
