Sundowns eyeing another Stellenbosch FC star

A highly-rated Stellenbosch FC attacker has been spotted at Mamelodi Sundowns headquarters in Chloorkop on Tuesday.

Sundowns have already snapped up Junior Mendieta from Stellenbosch ahead of the new season. The Argentine was one of the outstanding performers in the 2022/23 DStv Premiership campaign.

The Tshwane giants also signed Lesiba Nku from Marumo Gallants after the Limpopo side was relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Meanwhile, Masandawana parted ways with Haashim Domingo, Andile Jali, Surprise Ralani and Lesedi Kapinga.

Sundowns turned themselves into a dominant force in South African football which saw them win six league title in a row. In addition, they have won several Cup competitions including the Nedbank Cup.

And with the club set to take part in six competitions next campaign, they have already started beefing up their squad.

The Brazilians will be competing in the CAF Super League, CAF Champions League, Carling Black Label Knockout, MTN8, DStv Premiership and Nedbank Cup.

STELLENBOSCH FC ATTACKER SPOTTED AT CHLOORKOP

“Ibraheem Jabaar arrived at Chloorkop on Tuesday carrying some luggage bags,” a source close to the club said.

“So at this stage is really unclear what’s the arrangement. But if a player from outside Gauteng come to Sundowns with luggage, you can expect him to join the club.

“I mean this would be a high profile signing for Sundowns looking at Jabaars’s contribution at Stellenbosch.”

In addition, Sundowns continue to make a real push to sign SuperSport United midfield sensation Thapelo Maseko. Indications are that club to club agreement is all that’s left before Maseko make a switch to cross-town rivals.

Furthermore, Jabaar made 26 appearances in all competitions for Stellies last season and scored three goals.

It remains to be seen whether the Nigerian international will join his former Stellenbosch teammate Mendieta at Sundowns.
