Zimbabwean giants chasing a PSL star
Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos are reportedly set to offer a lucrative deal to a PSL star whose exploits did not go unnoticed this past season.
Dynamos have not been at their best in terms of scoring in the 2023 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign.
They are, however within touching distance of the current log leaders, Ngezi Platinum Stars after 13 rounds of fixtures.
When the season started, the Harare-based club acquired four strikers, who cost them around R934 000.
THE PSL STAR IS DYNAMOS CHASING
Sadly, they have only scored three goals between them for the Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos.
And this has prompted the club to knock on Ishmael Wadi’s door for his services. The attacker’s contract with JDR Stars in the PSL recently ended.
Wadi has been a constant goal-getter in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, having scored 12 goals in 25 matches last season.
His impressive scoring record in the South African lower tier league is the main reason why Dynamos are pursuing him.
The 30-year-old did not renew his contract with JDR Stars amid serious intrests from DStv Premiership clubs.
Stellenbosch FC lead the chase for Wadi’s services, with Cape Town City also angling to sign him.
At this point, nothing has been concluded as Dynamos are also moving with speed to lure him back to the Zimbabwean PSL.
DYNAMOS’ POSITION ON ISHMAEL WADI
An unnamed executive member at Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos is quoted by The Herald saying the deal is being concluded.
“Unless something dramatic props up, Ishmael Wadi will be joining Dynamos in the coming days,” he said.
“Our technical team led by Herbert Maruwa recommended him after seeing that he would be out of contract on June 30.
“We backed their decision, and we are making frantic efforts to bring him to Dynamos.
“The talks are at an advanced stage, and everything is pointing in the right direction. If all goes well, we will be sealing everything in the coming days.”
Wadi is a proven goal scorer having done well at his former teams Bulawayo City, Harare City and CAPS United. That was before his breakthrough to the Zimbabwean football landscape.
Therefore it remains to be seen if the Zimbabwean football giants Dynamos manage to wrestle Wadi from Stellenbosch FC’s hands.
