Jackson Mabokgwane trying his luck at PSL side in KZN

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane is training with a PSL outfit in KZN, hoping to secure a contract before the 2023/24 season commence.

The 35-year-old spent the last six months of the previous season at Black Leopards having joined the club in January.

He signed for Lidoda Duvha on a free transfer following his departure from another Limpopo side Baroka FC during the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.

The veteran shot-stopper has been training with the Richards Bay as they’re gearing up for the 2023/24 season. He’s hoping to bring about a successful trial over pre-season so he can seal the deal with the club.

Should the Natal Rich Boyz decide to sign Mabokgwane, he would go in for the number one spot along with Salim Magoola, Malcolm Jacobs and Neil Boshoff.

Last season, which was a debut campaign for Richards Bay in the top-flight, Magoola was the first choice. He amassed 28 appearances across all competitions, missing only three DStv Premiership matches.

Following his heroic showings in the early stages of the season, the Player of the Month for September/October was bestowed upon him.

OTHER NATAL RICH BOYZ SIGNINGS

In an attempt to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season, Richards Bay have already made a couple of signings who have joined the team for the pre-season.

They snapped up the midfielder Lucky Mohomi and the striker Letsie Koapeng from Marumo Gallants following the relegation of the side to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

They have also signed Thato Mohlamme from Uthongathi FC and Justice Figareido from All Stars FC.

Moreover, Richards Bay recently announced Kaitano Tembo as the new head coach, replacing Vasili Manousakis who parted company with the club last month.
