AmaTuks snap up defender from Casric Stars

University of Pretoria [AmaTuks] have snapped up a Casric Stars defender as they prepare for the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign.

AmaTuka have been hands-on in the transfer market as they aim to make a real push for automatic promotion to DStv Premiership.

AmaTuks moved swiftly to sign Teboho Makungo from ABC Motsepe League side Dondol Stars and Thabang Sibanyoni from Mamelodi Sundowns on a season-long loan.

Sibanyoni spent the last season on loan with SuperSport United where he failed to establish himself as a regular starter.

The attacker will be in his second loan spell with Tuks after spending the 2021/22 campaign with the club.

Meanwhile, the Tshwane-based outfit released 11 players who were deemed surplus to requirements for the upcoming season.

Amongst players released by Tuks is Rodney Ramagalela, Kyle Peters, Blessing Mabasa, Khomotso Masia, Masixole Nkewana, Sibongakonke Gwaba, Vuyolwethu Dinge, Nhlanhla Zwane, Tristan Nikitaridis, Lungelo Nguse and Siphamandla Ncanana.

This publication has learnt that Tlisane Motaung-coached team have signed Sihle Gum from Stars to beef up their defensive line.

“AmaTuks seriously want to compete for a promotion to DStv Premiership, they are a very ambitious club,” a source told FARPost.

“I mean you know that Tuks have let go of a handful of players. So expect them to bring more players to replace the daparted ones.

Tuks have signed Casric Stars defender Sihle Gum who was outstanding last season. He’s expected to be announced by the club soon.”

The centre back featured in 21 matches for Casric Stars in Championship and scored two goals.

In addition, the Mpumalanga-based side missed out on the promotion to the SA top flight after falling short in the promotion/relegation playoffs.
